FAIR TRADE
Hi!
Seeing your interest in community and global-issue involvement, I thought some of you might be interested in our projects: I'm volunteering with Fair Trade Toronto (www.fairtradetoronto.com). We're trying to promote the idea of fair trade to people in the GTA. Fair Trade guarantees a "living wage" to farmers and producers in the developing world, meaning that they earn enough to live a healthy life, have access to education and healthcare and other necessities, are not forced to work long hours, etc. Fair Trade does not use child labour and has a goal of being environmentally sustainable. It is a tangible way for the public in developed countries to make a difference in the developing world just by purchasing a different coffee, sugar, tea, chocolate, sport ball, flower, etc. Please see our website as well as the website I've created for it on TIG (http://projects.takingitglobal.org/ftt) for info about all our upcoming events (April 24-May 7) and how to get involved if you're interested. PLEASE pass on the info to all your contacts you think might be interested. Feel free to contact me with questions. I look forward to hearing back from you!
