Status: In Progress
Timeline: Ongoing

Description:
Shout for your right is a campaign organized by young people for young people, its goal is to
encourage them and to sensibilize them for human rights engagement.
By working with student groups and youth groups at amnesty international for several years,
we noticed the lack of a clear direction in the information for young people about human
rights.
An unambiguous address to the youth in the visual media is also absent.
Young people get to know the field of operation of human rights organizations mainly through
their parents, who are either themselves involved in such organizations or are themselves
interested in them.
But an awareness for ethics and justice, as well as defending human rights, are tasks, that
concern all of us. Especially young people walk this path into the future and set new values
and ways to act, that are authoritative for our society's development. That is why we must
start right there with informing the youth, educating and enlightening them.
In today's society we can witness more and more a seeming lack of interest in political
developments. The information rendered to us by the news is obviously being perceived, the
unhappiness among the people is also noticeable. But where is the reaction? Where is the
rightful rebellion? Who will stand up to say: „No, things can not go on like this!“? Economic
interests stand above humanity.
Injustice and military interventions are oviously accepted in silence. Where is the solidarity
among humans, care for each other and helpfulness?
Our campaign is meant to be youthful, fresh, direct and offensive.
We do not hesitate so speak up, to say what we think, because we are free to express
ourselves and we stand to our opinion.
We want to make a change, we are strong and focused.
We want to be taken seriously, especially because we are young and we have an unbiased
view on things. We can achieve something. We have potential.
That is why our slogan and appeal to the people is:
SHOUT FOR YOUR RIGHT AND FOR HUMAN RIGHTS
Everybody owns the freedom of speech, of standing in for his opinion. If ordinary speech is not
being heard, then we decide to shout, instead of turning silent or speechless.
We support the idea that everybody has that right and seizes it, too, as change begins in
communication, exchange and attention drawn.
Our main task is to put up a network in this spirit that will enable young people, but also
adults, to get into contact with others who are interested, to say their thoughts and to become
active them.
In the long run, we want to sharpen the awareness of young people for our world and society,
and we want to draw their attention to the fact, that every single person is responsible for
himself and his environment. We understand that our work is a social mission with optimism
for a better future. shout for your right is a campaign, that was started in self initiative, it is
supported by the organizations „Aktion Weißes Friedensband“, „Unicef“, „terre des hommes“,
„Brot für die Welt“ and „Kindernothilfe“.

Background:
Our team consists of young filmmakers, who are specialized in their respective fields. Most of
them work on a semi-professional level and have already participated in numerous movie and
tv productions. Graphic designers, press speakers and photographers enhance our staff. The
project was initialized by and is currently led by Marc Ludwig, press speaker for advertisement
media with amnesty international, long-term youth group coach and correspondent in
cooperation with Sabrina Kunert.
All participants have decided to take part in this social and cultural campaign voluntarily.

Objectives:
The working environment of our team is strongly characterised by film production. That is why
the basic idea was, to implement a „cinema social spot“ based on the aesthetics of film
making, effective and engineered and designed in a way that makes it easily remembered.
Movie theatres are a forum for cultural exchange.
The movie programme as well as the social occasion turns into an individual cultural event.
The visitors of movie theatres are open for unknown and unseen experiences. That is why we
consider the movie theatre to be the ideal presentation space for an open minded and
attentive audience.
We put a special attention on that to produce the Spot with utmost technical claim and in
especially good quality so that the 35mm projection impressively causes in the movie theatres
and remains the visitors clear in memory.

Milestones:
The recording medium was Digi Beta. A complete filming day took place in May 2005. The
making of the spot involved 20 actors and 15 crewmembers.
The equipment (camera, light and sound), could be borrowed free of charge, thanks to many
helpful supporters and sponsors.
Meanwhile the post production is completed and we are preparing the presentation and public
premiere in Berlin for November.
The development of this project is our team's own production for our partner organizations on
no-budget level. A salary for the performers as well as the team is not being payed.
This underlines the enormous engagement of the participants for a social contribution, which
we are very grateful for.

Budget:
According to the plan, the spot will be shown simultaneously in several movie theatres in the
city, after its premiere in Berlin. After that, the movie should be shown in a couple of major
cities in Germany.
Optionally, places in Austria and Switzerland will be added. The 300 copies (35mm) will play
sequentially in the respective towns, each town for about one to two weeks. Within this time,
the publication of the campaign should take place in a focused way with the help of radio and
print media in the respective towns.
Especially in Berlin it is easy to notice, that visualisation has reached much greater dimensions
than a few years ago. More and more images and spaces for projection have emerged.
Starting with the Berlin U-Bahn Television, the „Berliner Fenster“, up to oversized videoboards
i central places in the town. Airports offer their own video program and in Berlin's railway
stations video-art is being displayed.
We want to be seen and we want our campaign to reach as many people as possible. That is why our very important aim is, to utilize these public SCREENS and to use also TV on a
regional and super regional scale to call attention onto the issue of human rights.
That is why we hope sincerely, that also the public and private broadcasting houses will play
the spot and perhaps also the „making of“ on TV.
During the „Hofer Filmtage 2005“, the spot will be presented to a festival audience for the first
time.
At the same time we are pleased, that the cinema social spot will not be seen as an
advertisement, but as a short-movie of it's own and is displayed in such context, too.
Until now the social spot has received encouraging word from many organizations, for that
reason and because of the intercultural compatibility of the spot, there is a good chance on an
extending international campaign. Possible partners for this are currently being requested.œ

Needs:
This project could only grow with the helpful support of many partners and sponsors.
We have already applied for financial support for materials, copying and for the creation of the
35mm copies. The allowances are going to be announced towards the end of summer /
autumn. Our partner organizations, as well as other supporters, have offered their help.
We are positive, that the distribution of the cinema copies as well as of the print media will
function efficiently within Germany and also internationally, with the help of our partner
organizations and their bases.
