Status: In Progress
Timeline: December 29 08 to December 29 08

Description:
We give hammocks to orphans or anyone who needs a cozy place to sleep. We donate sewing machines and teach skills to use them.

Background:
This is a project of the Action Hero Network, organized by Cory Richardson, with US tax status through International Humanities Center. http://www.actionheronetwork.net

Objectives:
This spring we plan to tour orphanages to share circus skills that will develop the child\'s self-images, along with promoting green building and permaculture methods that will help communities to be self-sufficient.

Milestones:
Spring 2008, Cory Richardson teamed up with Norman Nakhokoe, director of Bunabumali Good Samaritan Orphanage and Need School. Two sewing machines were donated to Good Samaritan Orphanage in the village of Bunabumali, and two to Life In Africa in Gulu. Both organizations made 20 hammocks, which were given to the needy. The sewing machines have continued to be in use for other projects such as making school uniforms. \r\n\r\nWe are seeking opportunities to get hammocks shipped to Canada to fund the organizations. A video on youtube shows a day in the life of Stitch Uganda Together: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KdrjDHiAWM

Budget:
The project is funded through hammocks sales: http://www.actionheronetwork.net/hammocks.html

Needs:
We are seeking volunteers and donations for the next project in Uganda- Spring 2009.
