Description:
Surmeddis is a non-government organizations committed to collecting surplus medical supplies from hospitals in the greater Montreal area and distributing them to clinics and hospitals in the Global South.
Background:
In November of 2010, I volunteered in Atlanta Georgia with an npo that collected surplus medical supplies from hospitals in the Atlanta area and distributed them. After looking into it, I saw that there were no projects that were consistently similar, and so I decided to start my own!
Objectives:
The goals for Surmeddis are:
1. Get 10 hospitals involved and consistently donating surplus medical supplies by February 1 2012
2. Distribute supplies to four different countries by the end of the first year (September 2012)
3. Hold a fundraising dinner with a goal of $10 000 by January 5, 2012
4. Collect 5 000 pounds of supplies by December 2011
