Description:
Student Volunteer Services at ISU provides information on volunteer opportunities throughout the community. Our goal is to become a link between potential volunteers and organizations that need them, and vice versa. I am the incoming President of SVS and I am posting this project to ask for advice from other volunteer organizations as to how to increase membership at meetings as well as involvement in activities. All advice is very appreciated, I'm aiming for my project to increase membership that will then result in SVS being better able to serve our community :)
Background:
Our main focuses are:
Youth (mentoring, volunteering at schools)
Elderly (volunteering at retirement homes, hospital)
Environment (picking up trash, cleaning the community)
Community (Library, Food at First, etc)
We are open to any and every volunteer projects thrown our way!
Objectives:
1. Contact other volunteer organizations as to how they deal with member attendance
2. Contact other campus volunteer clubs about incentives to get members and retain them
3. Get advice from anyone willing to give me any that is currently in an volunteer group
Budget:
We are funded from the Government Student Body at Iowa State University
Needs:
MORE MEMBERS! We are at thirty three right now, my goal for next year 60!
