HIV/AIDS AND ICTS RESEACH INITIATIVES

Two youth led organizations from Taraba State- Nigeria Working on peace building; community development it projects, youth empowerment, poverty reduction and HIV/AIDS, are looking into the role now information communication technologies could play in addressing HIV/AIDS education, mitigation and capacity building.
The project is designed to help the underserved, Women and youths to learn and master the knowledge of information and communication technology (ICTs) to generate knowledge that would boost their efforts to fight HIV/AIDS, poverty and illiteracy. ICTs are relevant in carving communication as an aspect of life in fulfilling local , national and international commitment to achieving millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) and to empower one youths the population reserve of tomorrow’s society to act why they are informed.
Knowledge and information are a better resource for empowerment and social change. The HIV/AIDS AND ICTs RESEACH INITIATIVE Concrete objectives are:-
- Create an opportunity for under served youths and women to be part of the global information society and for them to have ability to organize, adopt and change their approach to HIV/AIDS through knowledge generation and sharing.
- Provide a channel to which effective and functional HIV/AIDS massages, access to information like receiving, collecting and disseminating information on issues and problems that confronts the under served, youths and women among others.
- Creating vision for the future through using the research initiative to encourage the formation of drama groups that would enhance HIV/AIDS communication activities at the local level.
The concept of research is designed with concrete fundamental objectives that for instance:-
- Education through the ICTs can promote development and are people are better placed with variety of choices. This conclusion therefore means that 4 example farmers or rural peasants who are educated are said to be more flexible and better at processing information’s (HIV/AIDS among others) that improves their lives.
- A better education and informed population serves as catalyst for capital development (HIV/AIDS Free Society).
- Most informed and educated population (Better informed on HIV/AIDS) are said to have a longer life experience which can therefore enhance a long-torn investment for any nation with consequential benefit on public investments any where else.
- Providing better and unanswered questions raised in the field of HIV/AIDS awareness initiatives so far undertaken by experts and practitioners. Using ICTs tools.
To achieve this, we have set out varieties of research working tools that would collect data’s, experts’ perspectives and workshops held around the HIV/AIDS research topics. The end product of this research initiative is intended to be summarized the data’s collected stating major out put for the purpose presenting a well researched HIV/AIDS AND ICTS/Document book. This material will thus be a reference source for HIV/AIDS researchers and NGO’s/CSO’s . It is hoped that youths and women who are rare vulnerable group as far as HIV/AIDS is concerned with draw varieties of experiences that would present concrete views from the field with experts insights and scientific facts from consultants.
