The New Mentality is a pilot project designed to create youth-driven groups across Ontario to create anti-stigma activities and systematic change.
Background:
Children’s Mental Health Ontario and the Provincial Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health have embarked on this collaborative youth engagement initiative.
Objectives:
This initiative will:
*engage youth as partners
- to network with other professionals and youth across Ontario
- to share your experiences and opinions
- to promote mental health
- to advocate for a system that best meets their needs
* improve child and youth mental health services in Ontario
- by working to
- reduce stigma
- make it easier to ask for help
- increase public acceptance of people with mental health issues
- by advocating for CYMH to be viewed as a health priority
- by increasing the number of youth in governing positions
Milestones:
This is year one and there are already many groups up and running, organizing events, workshops, and partnerships.
