Its another big day in the lakeshore district of Machinga where young people from the Machinga Network have organized a protest against the bad deal that was pushed through at the Hong Knog Ministerial. The youths will also present a petition to the Minister of Trade through the district's District Commissioner(DC) at 10.00 am on Saturday at the DC's offices.
The activity is sponsored by Oxfam International Youth Parliament (OIYP) through the Young Advocates for the Advancement of ICT-related Development (Y.A.A.ICT-D)

"At this point more than ever in my life it has really felt good to be young and Malawian". Those were the words of Kenneth Msiska, the coordinator of OIYP/Y.A.A.ICT-D Trade Justice Project called the Malawian Youth Voices at the end of youth protests at the Blantyre Youth Center on Saturday 17 th December 2005 where about 120 youths from Blantyre particiapated in a protest march. The march started from Old Mutual building close to Hong Kong restaurant via Masauko Chipembere Highway to the Blantyre Youth Center (BYC) where a concert followed Musicans present included Steve Kachingwe and the Young Generations, Black Radics, Khamuladzi and many more.
The march was preceded by a Seminar on WTO wchich attracted about 70 youths from Blantyre and surrounding areas. The youth came up with their own declaration on various issues pertaining to trade.

The Trade Justice Malawi team has organized a number of activities during and after the WTO Ministerial in Hong Kong. On Friday 16th December 2005 there is a day long seminar on WTO which is aimed at raising awareness about the crucial issues surrounding the WTO. It is also aimed at strategising on ther kind of action to take .
On Saturday 17th December 2005 there is a concert in the cioty of Blantyre organized by a network of oganizations in Blantyre.
In the lake shore district of machinga the young people have organized mass protest on the 22nd December 2005. All these event have been funded by Oxfam International Youth Parliament (OIYP) through the Young Advocates for the Advancement of ICT-related Development (Y.A.A.ICT-D)
