Description:
We have regular meetings to discuss upcoming projects and youth action. The TYPS youth board members are also on the TYPS board and are involved in conference activities. We are the youth voice for youth.
Background:
Town Youth Participation Strategies (TYPS) works to encourage, support, and provide information and training to youth and youth groups in rural areas, towns and small cities in Canada. TYPS recognizes youth as citizens with rights, responsibilities, able to make contributions through active community involvement, participation, partnerships, and meaningful decision-making that affects their lives.
Objectives:
Supports youth who want to reduce behaviour that put youth at risk.\r\n\r\nResearches and develops programs with youth to help them achieve their full potential.\r\n\r\nEstablishes a code of standards for youth programs and youth centres.\r\n\r\nOrganizes an Annual TYPS conference of youth participating in youth centres.\r\n\r\nIs a central research and resource organization that provides support and training to youth.\r\n\r\nOffers educational activities, conferences, workshops, skills training opportunities, resource material and networking for youth throughout Canada\r\n\r\nProvides training workshops in resource development and sustainability of operations.
