Updates on January activities

Hello everybody!

This blog is for sharing with all of what was going on ground.

Below find some details

Activities Carried out in January 2009

-Project Coordination board Meeting

We did the project coordination board meeting in which the whole project program was explained and each member was given his/her tasks to fulfill together with project volunteers.

-Contacts

Important contacts have been done. We got GO AHEADs from government officials i.e MUKURA Sector and NGERA Sector.
Two trainers were contacted and had accepted to provide training to the project volunteers.

-Project Volunteers Recruitment

The whole project team is now made up by 15 volunteers (10 boys and 5 girls).
Indeed, we recruited 10 volunteers out of over 40 applications received; however, 4 girls and 6 boys were recruited.

-Project Volunteers Training

All the 15 project volunteers were trained .Peer Education and VCT policies were the principle topics of the training. Two facilitators (Centre Dushishoze Director and his assistant) provided enough knowledge which will help the project volunteers in future project activities implementation. The training was interactive and appreciable.

Conclusion

Till now everything is fine .We are on time and have hope that everything will continue to be as good as they are, now. Thanks to all our supporters, especially to MTV/SAF. Your support is wonderful.

Preparation meetings of the WAD and Teaching Sessions, 15th November

Hi everybody!

As you know it already, the World AIDS Day is approaching. Only fifteen days left. The theme of the year is ‘LEADERSHIP’. Take the lead and keep promise!

It is the reason why we decided to start the WAD preparations early this month.
Indeed, during this past two weeks we held teaching sessions first and Segundo we shifted to different meetings with youth anti-AIDS Club leaders to think and discuss about events that would be held on the WAD.

We decided to start commemorating the WAD since the beginning of the last week of this month.
Different activities will be done including the Home-Based Campaign, peer education sessions and a protest.

I take this opportunity to invite all of you, to our next blog which will be totally about the WAD commemoration activities and their outcomes.

Kindly regards,
Jean Luc

Teaching Sessions for Rural Youth at LIBA and BUKOMEYE, VCT Campaign Project, 30th October Blog

Dear GYCA Friends,

Hope this find you well.

These last two week of October, it was a busy time for us.

All activities were about Teaching Sessions for Rural Youth Anti-AIDS Clubs at BUKOMEYE and LIBA, and Specific Sessions for Rural Parents.
Teaching Sessions were held weekly every Sunday and we taught rural youth about Reproductive Health and Family Planning. We decided so because as you now nowadays HIV/AIDS related services are being integrated together with that of Reproductive health and/or Family Planning.

The sessions were successful and interesting on both sides. Trainers and Trainees.

Also specific sessions started for parents, we decided to hold such important sessions during or after national community works, be it is on those days that we can find a high number of parents together. This started at the end of the October.
Note that Rwandan National Community Work takes place on the last Saturday of each month.

Thank you.

Anti-AIDS Club launching and Teaching Sessions for Children and Youth at LIBA and BUKOMEYE, VCT Campaign Project, 15th October Blog

GYCA Friends,

Briefly, all activities carried out were about HIV teaching sessions. We provide HIV/AIDS accurate knowledge to children and youth in order to empower them so that they should be able to protect themselves and teach it to others ;their relatives and colleagues.
Within these two past weeks, we held teaching sessions for about 200 pupils at BUKOMEYE Primary School and we continue sessions for LIBA Anti-AIDS Club members.
All sessions were well held and productive.
Let me mention that the BUKOMEYE Youth Anti-AIDS Club has been launched on this 12th October and it is ready to start youth mobilisation at BUKOMEYE Village.
In Rwanda it is now a raining season and I want to give thanks to all volunteers who walked under the rain coming back from village after teaching session at LIBA and Anti-AIDS Club launching at BUKOMEYE.
Thanks again for all organisations and individuals who are supporting technically our project.

Look forward receiving you comments and advices.

Thank you.
