Description:
VOLUNTARY TRANSLATION FOR VOLUNTEERISM IN VIET NAM (VTVV)

Introduction

Volunteerism in Viet Nam has been developing for many years and has produced great social benefits. However, the growth of the movement has revealed a number of difficulties and obstacles, which have led to the waste of resources and ineffectiveness. One of the biggest problems is that the volunteers lack necessary training and guide to achieve the best results. In order to be part of solution, we create the VTVV project to translate useful English articles, guidelines and toolkits into Vietnamese. In the future, the project may expand to provide writings from the volunteers. The project outcomes will be published on appropriate newspapers, magazines, websites; and will be donated free of charge to any youth group and individual that are interested.

Vietnamese volunteers will design, implement, manage and develop the VTVV project. Participants are not paid for any expense in the working progress. All volunteers are committed to the project and the assignments by their enthusiasm and responsibility. Although volunteer translators can come and leave the project at any time due to their free time availability, they are strongly recommended to complete any translation of which they have taken charge.

The project itself will demonstrate the voluntary spirit of Vietnamese youth. Moreover, it will highlight the youth’s willing to learn, share, cooperate, help and inspire others. The project outcomes will be helpful in improving the effectiveness of youth action and expanding the benefits of their projects. We hope that VTVV project will make a big contribution to the sustainable development of volunteerism in Viet Nam.

VTVV project was initiated in March 2006 by two freelance volunteers in Viet Nam: Nguyen Hong Anh, from Ha Noi and Pham Thanh Nhon, from Ho Chi Minh City.
