Description:
Sierra Unit Network is a non-profit making and non-governmental
organization established since 2006 under the not for making profit categories and the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, with the initiative of empowering young men and women in the basis of
skill training like ICT, good governance, health related issues,
leadership skills and also to effectively promote them on global world technology and network sharing through peace building, global awareness, raiding campaigns, trainings on workshops and seminars
within the communities of Sierra Leone.
Background:
Women are becoming a source of factors in our homes, and communities today. They are the most under-privileged category that suffers violence during the senseless and brut less war. Majority are said to be under the category of youth. Many of the young women are going
through violent in their homes, offices, business, participation in
nation building, and their involvement into public expression and fundamental understanding of information and communication technology. Even today, women are sidelines on some of the key areas in the economic and social development within the community of Sierra Leone. The role of women in Information and communication technology are
predominately small in number and cannot help them to geared the
interest of involving into information and communication technology within the communities they find themselves today.
We are requesting/preaching that the young women in Sierra Leone do given the opportunity to participate in moral standard of education social development, medium of tolerance in right of expression, and involved in nation building in the area of community development.
Objectives:
Objectives:
A. Curatives Measures:
i. To improve the moral standard of young people in Sierra Leone, especially young women.
ii. Taking them to the global world context of information by improving their skills of expression in the area of communication
within their communities.
iii. Training young women on how to promote peace building and security within their community, also motivating them to participate
in leadership training and nation building.
iv. To undertake what will benefit them and the nation.
v. To improve, develop and train young women in information and communication technology.
vi. To provide job for our beneficiaries.
B. Preventative Measures:
i. To help create understanding and awareness of the right of young women, especially in using computer as a supportive tools.
ii. To help Government, local institutions, communities and families intensify initiatives in protecting women exposed to danger, war and
other disadvantaged situations.
iii. To work with communities and civil societies and civil societies to identify proper method of how they can sensitise the young women of
how important ICT Training is, and to host workshops/ seminars on
iv. Global Reformation on Information and Communication Technology and also preach out about sustainable and long lasting peace and
reconciliation by instituting relevant conflict resolution mechanisms for transparency and accountability by transmitting proper report to
the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
Milestones:
Sierra Unit Network will expose the interest of women and create moral value in the area of General Education Competencies that are described below for the outcomes which pervasive components of all courses and experiences. These competencies equip our young women with the
knowledge, skills and attitudes for a full and productive life. They
are not limited to instruction in one course or discipline; these
competencies can be taught in all institutes courses and are suggested by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for all general education programs.
• Written and oral communication:
Written and oral communication includes the ability to communicate
effectively in verbal and written language, the ability to use a
variety of modern information resources and supporting technologies,
the ability to differentiate content from style of presentation, and
the ability to suit content and style to the purpose of communication.
• Scientific and quantitative reasoning:
Scientific and quantitative reasoning includes the ability to locate,
identify, collect, organize, analyze and interpret data, and the
ability to use mathematics and the scientific method of inquiry to
make decisions, where appropriate.
• Critical analysis and reasoning:
Critical analysis and reasoning includes the ability to arrive at
reasoned and supportable conclusions using sound research techniques,
including inference, analysis and interpretation.
• Technological competency:
Technological competency includes the ability to use computer
technology and appropriate software applications to produce
documentation, quantitative data presentations and functional
graphical presentations appropriate to various academic and
professional settings.
• Information literacy:
Information literacy includes the ability to identify, locate and
effectively use information from various print and electronic sources.
