Important announcement of the WCY The Netherlands (for immediate release within the WCY)
January 26, 2004, Breda The Netherlands. It is with great pleasure and excitement that I, in my function as National President of the World Congress of Youth The Netherlands, have the honor to announce an agreement on strong cooperation between the WCY The Netherlands and the Dutch youth organization “Tof EnZo”.
Because of the existence of an enormous amount of youth organizations within The Netherlands, both national- and deputy president felt that the only way of creating a influential and “visible” organization was through cooperation. It therefore has, since the recognition of the Dutch division of the WCY, always been the national- and deputy presidents intention to find a strong cooperation partner. After orientation talks with several influential and active youth organizations the WCY The Netherlands found its ideal partner in the non-profit youth organization “Tof EnZo”. After the first meeting between both organizations they both classified cooperation as “desirable”.
Ongoing talks between board members of both organizations resulted in an agreement which was reached on the 23rd of January 2004. As national president of the WCY The Netherlands I can affirm that this cooperation between both organizations allows us to combine the best possible elements namely; a strong international network and commitment from our side and the know-how and expertise on the national level from the side of Tof EnZo.
The exact liaison between The WCY The Netherlands and Tof EnZo has to be specified in the upcoming weeks, but it is already clear that the WCY The Netherlands will keep its autonomy within the agreed joint venture. A concrete result of the announced cooperation will be that Tof EnZo will appoint a member of their organization that will be placed in the board of the WCY The Netherlands. Furthermore Tof EnZo will share their office space in the center of The Hague (350m from the Dutch parliament) and their administrative staff with the WCY The Netherlands. Another effect of the agreement is that Tof EnZo will help our Dutch chapter of the WCY acquiring funds, selecting capable board members and designing a website and a new logo.
To conclude this announcement I would like to seize this opportunity to express our deep feelings of thanks towards our cooperation partner Tof Enzo. I am confident that this joint-venture will prove its value in the upcoming months, and for the sake of youth cooperation I encourage all WCY chapters to find cooperation partners.

Both National President P. de Kuijer and Deputy-President G. Marchena attended the "Night of the United Nations" event in Amsterdam. There they spoke with several leaders of Dutch (youth)organizations, and they were invited to visit the office of "Club van 2000" later this year.
