Description:
Northern Thailand is severely affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Some reports have stated that up to 40% of the reported AIDS cases in Thailand are in the northern region. Particularly hard hit are the province in the upper north; Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang , Lamphun, and Payao. rnrnin 2001 it was estimated that 290,000 children had been orphaned by AIDS and appproximately 2,000 HIV infected children were born annually.rnAccording to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) all children have the right to be free from discrimination, irrespective of the child's own , or their parent's or guardian's status. But children affected by HIV are alway at risk of discrimination. For this reason the principle of non-discrimination is hightly relevant in efforts to improve the lives and development of these children. rnrnThe Hope center will become the safety net for children orphaned by AIDS in Thailand .At our new center we will provide shelters, medical facilities, life skill education, for them and we hope they will can return to their communities with a strong life skill and self-esteem.
Background:
Founded in 2005, the WHITELOVE has been started its operation as a voluntary-based, youth-lead non-profit organization based in Thailand. WHITELOVE Initiated by a group of Thai young activist. At WHITELOVE, we are passionate to unlock the young people from the notion that they are powerless to affect positive change in the world. We promote environmentally healthy, culture of peace, just and universal human rights for all. rnrnFor our first three years, with our empowerment programs and leadership training, WHITELOVE inspires young people to develop as socially conscious citizens, learn to love and care others unconditional and become agents of change for their peers around the region. WHITELOVE has a proven track record of success. Example like, In Kanchanaburi Province in the border area (between Thailand and Burma) we had contribute to the Burmese and displace children. Our village site situate in the remote area, and environs with pristine natural. We emphasis on promote human right education for children and building capacities for their better health and sustainable livelihoods. In Chiang Rai Province, northern of Thailand, we had completely successful in the leadership training programs, incorporate with Maefarlung Universirty, to promote the healthy lifestyle. In Nan Province, the old eastern Lanna kingdom, we ran a project for small school of hill tribe. In this area we focus on create an educational environment in which children can learn to conserve their natural and traditional culture. In Bangkok, the capital city of our country, we has ran a volunteer spirit program, we dedicated to given hope, strength and joy to children with life-threatening medical conditions and handicapped children. rnrnIn 2008, WHITELOVE’s strategic plan was discussed and consolidated. With our capacities, we will focus on empowerment and leadership training for young people to be socially conscious citizens, learning to love and care others unconditional, engaging in daily acts kindness, and building meaningful relationships with others. With a priority theme on Education, Health, HIV/AIDS and Children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Objectives:
WHITELOVE 's Center of Hope is come to be our new project in this year.Aim to provide safe home for children and their single young mother who affected by HIV/AIDS , At our new center we will provide shelters, medical facilities, basic life skill education, for them.
Milestones:
To open the safe home for children in Thailand request us to register with the government, we are on the process of board recruiting and fund rising, however at the meantime we started to operate under our fiscal organization, Sittikarn Foundation. rnThe center location was selected; it is in the rural area of Chiang Mai the major city in northern of Thailand. Budget:
The full proposal and budget are in the process , but estimately we need 2,800 USD per month to cover the expence for the Hope Center.
