Description:
The World Summit on the Information Society is an opportunity to discuss a gloal action plan around information and communications technologies. Clearly, if it is to effect real change, it must involve young people, who are literally the leaders of the information society. The first Prepcom of the Summit will define the agenda and determine the rules for participation for the rest of the process leading up to the Summit itself in December 2003.
Objectives:
The project involves a team of young people advocating for youth involvement and youth concerns in the Summit process. The groups hope is that governments will create mechanisms to involve young people, and will address key issues related to education, access, appropriate technologies, cross-cultural communication and diversity, and employment.
