About the YGL Youth Task Force
The Youth Task Force, an effort of the Young Global Leaders, proposes to launch a campaign to solicit feedback from young people around the globe. The focus will be to engage voices of children and youth under the age of 25 in order to provide input to the Global Redesign Initiative of the World Economic Forum. This feedback will take two forms: (a) town hall meetings in partnership with select universities and community partners around the globe with attendance open to young people who submit meaningful comments online (b) online through social media including video, live chats and discussion forums.
Mitigating Global Risks & Addressing Systematic Failures
We can never know for sure when a crisis may hit, whether it be a disease that spreads like wildfire, or a natural disaster instantly killing thousands of people. How can we be prepared to respond, be aware of the risks and plan to protect what we can?
Creating a Value Framework
Values are a part of what defines us. They guide our daily decisions and actions and make us who we are. While there are differences in values across cultures, what are the common values that we share as a global community? How do we teach these values?
Ensuring Sustainability
Our forests' sources of fresh water are being depleted, our oceans are being polluted and ecosystems are being destroyed. How can we protect our planet and our natural resources so that we are not threatening current and future generations?
Strengthening Economies
How can we redesign the world so that there are not extreme gaps between the rich and the poor? How can we ensure that every person has an opportunity to be employed with a job that is related to their skills and interests? How do we end corruption?
Building Effective Institutions
Our world is becoming more globally connected yet our legal systems exist at the national level and often conflict or are ignored at the local and international level. How should the world be run and governed in a way that is fair and meets the needs of everyone?
Enhancing Security
People in situations of desperation often turn to violence and crime; creating a sense of fear in society. How can we create a world where people feel safe and free from terror? How can we find peace in a world with war and conflict?
