Description:
Youth Action Nepal (YOAC) came into existence in the year 2003 with the initiation of a few university students concerned with the vulnerable social, economic and political situation of the country, especially in the context of the armed conflict. The youths decided to move into action in order to contribute to human rights protection and promotion by involving fellow youths at a time when the nation was in its worst.
YOAC sought to fill the vacuum left by NGOs and community based organisations, which had no thinking, let alone programmes, to mobilise youths, the major social force with high potential for social transformation. YOAC’s establishment is linked to the vision to address the burning social and human rights issues of the country with the active participation of youths from local to international levels.
YOAC is therefore a youth led and youth focused organisation dedicated to human development of youths for human rights protection and promotion of Nepali people at large, and transformation of Nepali society. Since its establishment, it has been carrying out research and study; training and education; and lobby and advocacy campaigns to address the burning socio-political issues facing the country. In the span of three years, YOAC has involved thousands of youths, especial in conflict-affected regions of Nepal.
YOAC has also implemented number of projects and initiatives in the past in collaboration with number of international donor agency and like-minded organizations. YOAC has got enough experiences and expertise on project management and implementation working with Norwegian Human Rights Fund (NHRF), Te Ora Hou, New Zealand, South Asia Regional Initiatives (SARI)/Equity, Alert Fund, Netherlands, Choice for Youth and Sexuality, Netherlands, International Society for Peace and Human Rights, Canada and other international donors and organisations.

To create pro-human rights, democratic and just society through active youth participation from local to national to international level
