Youth of the World

After my most recent semester program, during which I studied world issues about the environment and social justice, I have come to the conclusion that starting locally at a community level is the best way to instigate change. Hence, Youth of the World is morphing into a rather different idea, one that seems much more plausible and effective toward reaching a means that I hadn't entirely discovered at the time of my YOTW founding. I am starting YOTW, not as a Youth Government as I had anticipated before, but as a movement for the localizing of economies, and building up community strength to support a sustainable lifestyle in a post-carbon world. My mind was foggy at first when I presented the Youth of the World concept, and I only knew that I really wanted to align youth worldwide in a common effort toward education and changing injustices today into a positive place for the children of the future.
Now that I've had more time to discuss this idea and sift through it, I've reached a clarity that I didn't have before: By starting in a local community, the world will reach this goal of sustainable living in the environment and with one another. It ALL starts on a personal level: the people you know, the goals your community has, and caring about your community enough to want to make the change there. Caring enough to want your people to be living in coexistence with the land and in peace with each other.
