People living with HIV/AIDS are often subject to discrimination and stigma that can permeate every aspect of life-employment, medical treatment, the care and custody of children, and other social relationships. This is a small effort to bring youth across the globe together in a single platform and campaign to reduce stigma; address the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS.
Background:
"People living with HIV have the same rights as I do. To live, to grow, to learn, to dream and to be a part of my world. I promise to uphold their rights and to give them strength in their times of need. I have the power to make our world a fairer, kinder and a better place to be." - the moving promise made by the great Indian Tamil actor PADMASHRI Dr. Kamal Haasan during his campaign against AIDS stigma "Let's Make It Right". Mobilizing youth was thought to be the alternative approach to fighting the social stigma of HIV/AIDS. The initiatives like GYCA are truly wonderful. The emergence of many such activities and involvement many more youths will surely create a huge difference in the coming years.
Objectives:
1> To bring youth across the globe in a single platform and raise voice against this social disease through e-forums, blogs and discussions.rnrn2> To promote youth involvement in activities which already fights against social stigma like GYCA and MOMENTUM (through its magazine)
Milestones:
It is believed that youth comprised of 50% of the new infections. Awareness about the spread of AIDS and campaigns against social stigma are to addressed among youth through blogs, e-forums.
